Why your credits ran out faster than you expected

A credit is not a video. It is a budget, and what it buys depends entirely on what you point it at, because every model has its own price. So "1,300 credits a month" is not a number of episodes; it is a number that stretches or vanishes depending on the models you shoot with and how many takes you burn.
The exact credit cost of the generation you are about to run sits on the Generate button, before you press it. Nothing on the platform charges you a number you have not seen.
The spread is 28x, and that is the whole story
The cheapest 5-second shot in the picker today is 2.94 credits on Kling v3.0. The dearest is 82.78 on Seedance 2.5. Same five seconds. The 1,300 credits on the Plus plan make 442 shots on the first and 15 on the second.
People rarely overspend because they chose the wrong model once. They overspend on retakes: every retake is a new generation at the same price, because it is a new run of the model. Ten takes of one stubborn shot on a mid-priced model quietly costs more than a whole scene drafted on a cheap one.
Three habits that stop the bleed
Approve the script before any shot is generated. A shot built on a line you were going to change is a shot you pay for twice.
Run the cheap model while you are still deciding what the scene is, and the expensive one once you know. Drafting at 4.73 credits a shot and finishing at 17.50 is a different month than doing everything at 17.50.
Read the number on the button. It is there for exactly this, and it changes when you change the model, the seconds, or the resolution.
When it fails, the credits come back on their own
If a generation fails on our side, the credits come back automatically, inside 60 seconds, as a visible row in your credit history. You do not have to ask, and you do not have to notice: the row is there either way.
Credits held by a generation that is still running are subtracted from your balance while it runs, which is why the number can briefly look lower than you remember. The billing page shows the held amount separately for exactly that reason.

Got questions left?
Do unused credits roll over to next month?
Subscription credits expire at the end of each billing cycle. Top-up packs are different: those last 90 days.
Is there any way to get a shot cheaper than the button says?
Pick a cheaper model, fewer seconds, or a lower resolution. The button price is the price; there is no hidden rate behind it.
What happens if I run out mid-episode?
Nothing is lost. Your script, cast and finished shots stay where they are, and generation resumes when credits do.
